South Valley 1 Day
Description
There are many interesting towns that contain impressive archaeological remains during this tour to southern of Cusco. Beginning this route we will find with Tipon and their extensive experimental terraces with impressive irrigation systems, Into this route we will find the towns of; Oropesa, Huaro and Andahuaylillas. Into these we will find colonial churches. One of the most important places that we’ll find in this route is Andahuaylillas or call as “Sixtine Chapel”
Itinerary
We will pick you up from your hotel at 08:15 hrs to have a guided tour in the south valley where you can visit the following places:
Tipon:
A large impressive growing space containing 12 terraces that are currently cultivated, whose walls were built with finely carved stones. Even more impressive is the irrigation system that is still serving agriculture and the advantage is the water intake in the spring season.
Pikillaqta:
It has characteristics of a large urban center corresponding to the time of development of the Wari Empire with more than a thousand buildings between squares, colcas (food deposits), courts or houses, temples, long and narrow streets with buildings that were up to 4 stories high.
Andahuaylillas:
Typical Andean village of the time of the colony of singular origin and architecture. Andahuaylillas emphasizes its Catholic temple of the colonial era with a beautiful decoration and mural painting of the seventeenth and eighteenth century known as the Sistine Chapel of Cusco. On the way back, we will go through Saylla, a typical Cuzco village where you can enjoy the delicious pork rinds (optional). We will be returning to the city of Cusco at approximately 3:30 p.m.
